  • What are my rights when pruning a neighbour’s tree that overhangs my property?

In both Halton Hills and the Peel Region (including Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon), you are legally allowed to prune branches from a neighbour’s tree only if they cross over your property line.  However, there are important conditions to keep in mind.

  • When is the best time to prune a tree?

Dead, damaged, or hazardous branches can be removed at any time of the year for safety. If you’re dealing with a storm-damaged tree or a safety concern, it should be pruned/removed right away. The longer a dead or damaged tree sits, the more hazardous and unpredictable it becomes to remove.

  • What are the benefits of removing a stump after tree removal?

Stump grinding is the most common and efficient removal method. Approximately 90% of our customers who we remove trees for, also have us remove the stump (and the other 10% often end up calling us back to do the stump at a later date!). Stump Grinding is quick, affordable, and leaves the area ready for grass or garden.

  • I have a dying tree, should I just cut it down?

It depends on the health of a tree. A dead tree has the possibility of dropping limbs and injuring you or causing damage. We are fully insured and have the proper experience and equipment to remove it and dispose of it. A tree that hasn’t budded in years should have a closer inspection first.

  • It looks like I may have an insect problem, how should it be dealt with?

I have been proactively dealing with various insect infestations such as Asian Long Horn Beetle and the Emerald Ash Borer. Let’s set up an appointment so that I can have a closer look and give you options on how to deal with it.

  • I have a tree on my property that I no longer want, can't I just cut it down?

Each city has different by-laws and rules when it comes to the removal of living/healthy trees. Visit our Areas of Service page wehre we list Halton Peel municipalities and provide information about by-laws for tree removal. Give us a call and we can help you navigate the issue by providing an Arborist Report, which is the first step you will need before contacting the City. If your tree is 100% dead, imminently hazardous or terminally diseased, we would be more than happy to remove it for you. We can discuss options when we come to give you a free quote.
